We all know that it does take a certain amount of time before any form of treatment can yield any result, positive or otherwise. The road to healing can be affected by many elements like: your overall health in general or your health at the start of the treatment process; your willingness to commit to the treatment process; your emotional, physiological and psychological state before, during and even possibly after the treatment; your expectations from the treatment; your body’s inherent response to the treatment in question, etc.
However, when trying out new forms of treatments, we all seem to succumb to the thought that this healing process should cure all our ills and should work now… and we mean, right this very millisecond, (or sooner, if possible.) When results do not show up exactly the way we wanted it to show, or at the time we think it should work, we simply assume that the treatment is a fake. Worse still, we discontinue the healing process and jump into a new one which can further throw our internal system off balance.
The same can be said with the Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT. EFT is a form of alternative psychotherapy based on the theory that a person can harmonize both emotional issues and physiological well being by tapping into the body’s energy points while reciting a specific type of affirmation. It is said that by doing these set of actions properly, the mind and body can achieve a sense of balance which can help eradicate the negativity from within. So in effect, EFT is not a treatment on its own; rather, it is a psychotherapeutic tool for the body to heal itself.
Expecting too much too soon from EFT is one of the major pitfalls that new subscribers inevitably fall into. When EFT doesn’t work, they simply jump unto the next viable treatment possible. You do have to remember that it takes time for any one person to learn a new mode of healing. With EFT in particular, there are key energy points in the body that needs to be learned and utilized. There is also the affirmation part where one has to match both negative elements with the inherent positive ones. The manner of tapping can be easy, but there is a difference between tapping these said key energy points on your own and tapping them on someone else.
If not performed properly, EFT can yield very poor results indeed. So care must be accorded if the person doing the EFT treatment wants to see more favorable results. Also, all treatment processes have to undergo a period of healing. After all, the body cannot heal itself in a blink of an eye. Depending on your overall health and the emotional issue to work out, the EFT process can show results in less than a few minutes to several months at the most. The key to working with EFT is not to expect the impossible, and let nature take its course. And yes, to keep with the program.
EFT works particularly well for people who stick to this healing process and use it on a regular basis. Some “areas of concern” can be easier to deal with and so positive results can be seen rather quickly. However, others would need a lot more work and would therefore need more time.
