The success of your blog or website is largely based on what search engine optimization (SEO) strategy that is implemented. The word SEO is just an acronym. Whether you are applying SEO to a blog or website, the resultant effect are always the same.

So what exactly does search engine optimization involve? The main objective of SEO is to attract more visitors to your website or blog and this is achieved by improving various aspects of your website or blog. This will in turn increase the position of your web pages on search engine results such as Google. Search engine optimization will ensure that you website or blog is always displayed near to the top.

The ultimate position on Google’s SERPs is the number one spot. SERPs means search engine result pages. The reason for this is that the site listed as the first result will get more clicks and visitors than any other sites on lower positions. There’s always a striking difference. So, always aim for the number one spot.

Do you really want to make money on the internet? Even if are not using pay per click (PPC) to drive traffic to your site, you can still make good money using search engine optimization. SEO enables you to get more traffic from search engines. But to get these visitors, you need to use an effective SEO strategy.

In the general, search engine optimization involves the use of keywords or keyword phrases. These keywords are vital to the following areas of search engine optimization.

1. Keywords that a user inputs into a search engine when searching for information
2. Keywords found on your blog, blog posts, website and web pages.
3. Keywords in links from other blogs or websites that point back to your website or blog

So how do these keywords connect and work together? How does search engine optimization utilize these keywords? You should have asked how search engines rank your website using these keywords. That would have been a better question?

Firstly, you want to understand that Google do not rank websites. Google ranks web pages only. And that the major factor employed by a search engine, say Google, in the result of pages is the number of quality links from other site that point back at your website and the keywords that are used in the anchor text of these links.

This is how Google works. After a user inputs a search term into the search box on www.google.com, he or she clicks on the search button. Google will then try to match a web page, which could be a home page, to the word entered in the search box.

Google does this by taking keywords from the search term and matching them to both the keywords on the web page and those found in the link from other websites. From a list of the websites containing those keywords, Google will sort them by order of relevance, and will display them on the result page. The most relevant website would take the number one spot.

This makes it obvious that the secret to attaining the number one spot is to create a website of page that has the right keywords in it. It should also contain a good number of links pointing back at it. The difficult task is to make sure that the keywords pointing back at your website or blog are the most relevant. The authority of these links is the core of search engine optimization. This will define the possibility of your website or blog sitting on the number one spot of major search engines. So, waste no more time today, as you now know the importance of a good SEO to your blogs and websites.
